Since 1977 the City has been developing the economic and community “infrastructure” that would revitalize and provide incentives for Old Town, Lettered Streets, and the City’s historic Central Business District. Decisions made by the Port and the City regarding the demolition of historic waterfront buildings have the potential to effect the adjacent planning efforts that over the last 30 years have made the downtown area an economically, socially, and culturally viable place.
